Cygwin notes

I use Cygwin as my default terminal in Windows. Here are some notes for setting it up.

Make package installation easier

After installing cygwin copy the setup-x86_64.exe file to the cygwin64 install folder. This will allow you to install packages from within cygwin itself more easily. I'm of the opinion that comand-line package installation is not very friendly, and github is littered with attempts at creating a package manager. So I've come up with a pretty decent compromise that opens the package management (read: installation) window and allows you to install/remove things without too many hoops.

Simply add the following to your ~/.bashrc

alias pkg='/cygdrive/c/cygwin64/setup-x86_64.exe -B -M -n'

Here are some packages that I install after setup.
